Julie Shifman founded Act Three in 2008 to help women who want to create a compelling and interesting next stage of life after raising children, whether that means going back to work, starting a business or becoming focused around a community cause. For women in their third act after a first career and motherhood, she designed a unique, results-oriented process that includes coaching, networking, workshops, skills training, resume drafting and interview practice. She is also a dynamic and sought after speaker for many women’s groups, including the NYU Women's Initiative. Her topics include "Discovering Your Act Three: Creating an exciting and purposeful next stage of life" and "Back to Work Basics: The Nuts and Bolts of Returning to Work after Raising Children".

Julie added the Stimulating Seminar Series in 2009. At these events, like-minded women meet, learn about an interesting topic, share ideas, and broaden possibilities. Some recent topics have included, "How to find a flexible job", "How to network effectively" and "How to figure out what is holding you back".

An entrepreneur at heart, Julie founded Shifman & Associates in 2000. This consulting firm specialized in helping people reach their full potential.

One of her most significant achievements at Shifman & Associates was the creation and management of EXCEL (EXecutive Curriculum for Emerging Leaders), a year-long leadership development program for non-profit executives. EXCEL has contributed to the development of over 40 non-profit leaders in Greater Cincinnati. The program has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Program Excellence Award from the American Society for Public Administration.

Julie’s diverse background contributes to her success as a certified coach, entrepreneur, attorney, and consultant:

  • Her formal training includes a B.A. from North Central College, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado, a Masters in Tax Law from New York University, and she is certified as a coach from the College of Executive Coaching
  • After graduating from law school and practicing in New York, she moved to Cincinnati and became a partner in the law firm of Thompson Hine LLP
  • She serves as an adjunct professor of business at Xavier University’s Business School, where she is a highly regarded lecturer
  • She authored several articles that appeared in the Business Courier and other industry and legal publications

Julie has four sons and is actively involved in the community. She served as the Chairperson of the Board of Talbert House, (the largest social service agency in southern Ohio), and as a trustee of the Hebrew Union College. She was also the Chair of the Tax Section of the Cincinnati Bar Association. Currently, she is a board member of Talbert House, the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and Cincinnati Ballet.
