Project Assistant,
Cincinnati Human Relations Commission

Part-time, 20-30 hours/week.
From June 15 - August 7, manage the Summer Youth Employment Program 2009.

Includes designing and facilitating educational workshops for youth ages 14 to 19.

Specific duties will include: guiding the youth in designing a "multicultural friendship" message and turning it into mobile artwork and tracking the youth's hours and pay. Beyond summer of 2009, plan and coordinate the Great Youth Debate 2009, to be held November '09. Includes recruiting from area high schools, training in debate skills, coordinating logistics of event, and advertising.

Other duties may include: edit newsletters; assist with grant writing; write press releases; and assist with future programs. Must have experience with art; experience in working with youth with diverse backgrounds; and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bachelor's degree and proficiency with Microsoft Office required. The youth program hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10:00am to 3:30pm. The Project Assistant is required to be present during these hours; otherwise, the schedule can be flexible for graduate students.
